The Johannes Chamber
It is said that a man named Johannes fled here to find shelter when the cholera epidemic was at its height in Tiveden in 1834. The grotto is 7 metres deep and 3 metres high.

Tiveden National Park is one of the most beautiful in Sweden. The mighty forest keeps the sagas alive. Largely without paths and impenetrable, but also endlessly inviting. We encounter the softest marshland, clear lakes and breath-taking views as we follow the trails that have been here since the very earliest ages.
Trolltiven

A forest of this kind can only develop when the woods are allowed to grow without human intervention. The national park is located in the part of the forest known as Trolltiven, which was carved out by ice and water more than ten thousand years ago.

The countryside at first hand
It is not only in the national park that we can admire and enjoy the wonders of the countryside around Askersund and Laxå. Other natural delights here include Skagershultsmossen, one of the largest peat bogs in Sweden and home to wild birds such as the crane, the red-throated diver and the golden plover.

You can observe other species of birds in the Hammarsjön wetlands near Teen. Lillängen natural park is also nearby, with its magnificent flowers and charming rural atmosphere. And make sure to visit the Varga-vidderna nature reserve just outside Finnerödja.

The last wolf in the region was shot here in 1851, but wolveshave now returned and it is here, among the mires and woods, that they choose to live.

Fagertärn
When they are in bloom, the unique red water lilies of Fagertärn attract thousands of visitors from nearby and far. You can either follow the marked pathway around the edge of the lake, or enjoy the view of the lilies from the old railway embankment.
