It is impossible to describe the Tiveden-Norra Vättern area without making a lot of room for the water. Vättern itself, with its unique freshwater archipelago, is almost reason enough. Add to that the wonderful little lakes scattered throughout the woods and a health spa with its own water bottling plant!
The Vättern Norra archipelago is both beautiful and unique, with its roughly hewn rocks, polished granite slabs and windswept pine woods. In addition, the entire archipelago is largely uninhabited - a real wilderness! The coastline is just as varied.

Around the naturereserve, Harge uddar, you can see a magnificent landscape of dramatic rocky beaches and shallow bays with sandbanks.

If you enjoy fishing, this is the perfect place for you. The Tiveden-Norra Vättern area is liberally scattered with excellent fishing waters for both serious sports anglers and family fishing expeditions. Vättern is one of the most remarkable fishing regions in Sweden, with 31 species of fish, clear water to a depth of 17 metres and home to world-class char, river salmon and pike.
The best beaches

Paradoxically, the very finest white sandy beaches are to be found at the heart of the darkest woods. But that is just the way it is in the region. The longest beaches are at Hargebaden and Tivedsbadet.

Birds at Hasselfors

Hammarsjön by the south beach of Teen is one of the largest wetland areas in Sweden. It is the habitat of snipes, herons, whooper swans, cranes and, sometimes, even black storks.

The Utnäset Nature Reserve is also part of the coastal and archipelago landscape, with attractions including swimming of the rocks and breath-taking view of Vättern.
